Is there alot of work involved to set up a p.c running two O.S's?

I'm looking at purchasing a desktop computer with XP Media Center 2005 since its cheap, but the software program i need to run is not compatible with Media Center, should i just buy XP home also and load it up, do you have to load all the chipset drivers etc...? any advice would be great.

You just need 2 partions, or 2 diffrent hard drives to have 2 didffrent OS's on one computer.

You can get a free version of vmware. Load your copy of XP on that.
Reply:the software should work fine on media center if it will run on xp they both use the same platform there for the same program. just media center has so added features. it is like the second edition. If it doesnt work you can email me and I will walk you through steps on putting a second os on the system
Reply:Use either Partition Magic, or System Commander;

System Commander is useful, but sometimes a bit temperamental. If you have more than One Windows OS, it will install easily. If you need a separate partition, you need to be a little careful.

For basic Multi System use, Partition magic is just very simple.

I have used 3 versions of Partition Magic, and about the best thing I can advise is make sure you back up thje separate OS's. If you need a Linux OS or something different to Windows, then Partition Magic will go well.

Do NOT use XP Home for Multi Boot machines, its not good.
