We have a Trane xe80 heating & cooling unit that blows warm air when we set the thermostat to 75.?

What does this mean? For example today 2 hours ago we set the A/C to 75 and it still shows 80. Could it be that it takes much longer to cool since it was 85 degrees and muggy today in milwaukee, wi?

Make sure your OD unit is running when the a/c should be on.If its not the first step is to check the breakers in the panel,if all are on,have someone stand by the unit as you move the tstat setting up and down and see if there is a click which would be the contactor pulling in,not off and on but up and down.if you have a basement, check to see if you have a cond. pump for the a/c drain water,if it fails theres a safety in the pump to stop the a/c from coming on,if you look in the top, there should be water about 2" below the lid,any higher and the safety float has opened the circuit.hope it helps
Reply:do you have your thermostat set to cool not heat? that is important also make sure your furnace filter is clean we change ours each month for better heating and cooling.it will depend on the size of your house if its more than one story it will be harder to cool.good luck.
Reply:check to make sure that the furnace fan runs when on a/c if you do not hear fan that is your problem go and check the a/c unit if you hear no fan that is the problem or it is apossibility that you are very low on freon either cases you should call a repair man good luck
Reply:There's a slight chance that your thermostat is not working correctly. Ours is a little off, but we've learned to adjust its setting. We should really replace it, but we've been a little slack. It's also possible that your unit could be freezing up. You may need to call a repairman, but I'd check with the manufacturer first.
Reply:Your system could be low on freon. If the large refrigerant line is icing up that is a possible sign of a low charge
Reply:Make sure that your outdoor unit is actually running before you call anyone. If it is not check both the circuit breaker and the disconnect switch at the unit. If you have power at both of those you might have a break in the low voltage wire between the furnace and A/C. Mice and rabbits love to chew on those. On a side note, if you wait to turn your unit on until it is very hot, it will take a long time for the temp to drop because you have to get the humidity out of the house. Plus it wastes alot of electricity.
